Bettecchia, TSX tubing, Croce d'Aune group

I realize I've miss-spelled the title. Any thoughts on model/worth? I'll have a picture of the bottom bracket soon. Size: 52cm.

Wheelset: Croce d'Aune groupset hubs laced to Campy Omega Strada hardox rims, double butted spokes

My first order of business is to change out the saddle and bar-tape (black).

Looks like it has very little miles on it.

Were it mine, I wouldn't part with it for less than $1200. I would be surprised if it didn't get more than that on eBay, it doesn't look like it has seen a hundred miles.

I've always loved the look of these.

Clean her up, and check bearings, cables, brake pads, etc.

New bar tape and saddle will be worth it.

Black "favorite brand" tape and black Regal would look outstanding.

I would love to rip that bar tape off those bars for you!.

It's a beautiful bike and should bring upwards to $1800 or more on Ebay depending on the amount of serious bidders... Parting out the Croce D'aune/Record C will bring more. Good Luck!

I am not sure, it is a beautiful bike and not as common as a Bianchi but there has a been a '89 Bianchi Mondiale with SLX and CdA group languishing on ebay for a few months now at $1200 or so BIN. maybe it is just location or something in that case but I think he was willing to ship.

this is a beautiful and very classic looking machine I am not sure I could part with it. and by the wat ypou can't sell it to anyone who does not know the story of the demise of Mr Bottechia

This one is easy. The decals, though they're a bit out of focus, appear to be 1987-1989. Croce d'Aune was not available in 1987, leaving 1988-1989. A 1989 model would have a Carnielli 90th anniversary decal. If not, then it's a 1988.

Regarding the model name, during this period they simply used the tubeset and group, so this would be a Bottecchia TSX Croce d'Aune.

I think this would sell much easier than a comparable Bianchi. While Bianchi has a better known brand name, this has more bling. In the USA, bling tends to trumps brand, especially when there is this much more bling and the reputation is only slightly less. You'll get more if you part it out, but it also takes a lot more effort. I don't think $1200 to $1500 is unreasonable, if you wait until spring.

I'd appreciate if you could check and post your finding on the anniversary decal. I'd also appreciate knowing the serial number. TIA.

My expertise tells me that those brakes are pretty cool looking, and that i would like to ride it.
