Shimano 600 EX/Wolber Super Champion Alpine wheelset

I was going to post these wheels with the 600 EX group, but I had too many pictures in the post. Here's the link to the other appraisal thread https://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...ts-of-pictures.

Anyway, any idea what the wheelset is worth?

27" or 700c? Buyers looking for a wheelset want 700c, 27" will bring less. They're also freewheel hubs which (IMO) are less desirable than a cassette Freehub.

Regardless of what they are I don't see them selling for more than $100. Unless you really don't have room for a backup wheelset I'd just keep them as they're probably very nice wheels.

They are 700c and I agree about them being less desirable. I have no room and I'm moving soon so yeah, they've got to go. Thanks for the estimate. That sounds like a fair price. The pain is finding a local buyer since shipping wheels is a hassle I'd rather not deal with.

Agreed. Finding buyers for wheels and parts on craigslist is hit or miss. In a weak moment I sold a 27" Wolber Super Champion wheelset for $25. But it had no-name French hubs and corroded spokes.

As an owned article I think that the intrinsic worth of the wheel set is worth more than the market will dictate. You may get $100. If you own the set, they are worth more. Does that make sense? So, I agree entirely with FastJake. I happen to really like EX hubs. And threaded freewheels are readily available from Shimano and DiaCompe. Wolber Super Champions have an excellent rep; I've owned the Model 58.

Most people prefer cassettes over frewheels, due to the better reliability of the freehub itself. The dark anodized rims with heavily worn sidewalls add little value, though at least they're not 27". The tires appear to be Continental though I cannot tell the model or condition from the pictures. Without considering the tires, these wheels would sell for about $40-50 in my region, assuming the races are in good condition.
