1980 Trek 910 Question

I contacted trek to find out what I had with the serial numbers on it and they replied back And said it was a 1980 910. Any one have any idea what I could sell it for? There is a local bike shop that is interested but Im not sure there 150 dollar offer is a good price or not so I thought I would ask on here. Thanks for the help. I can get pics of it if any one wants to see them.

You should re-post your question here:

https://www.bikeforums.net/forumdispl...-and-Inquiries

and include lots of pictures.

If it's in good shape, your bike is potentially worth more than double their offer but with vintage bikes condition is everything...

Also, the 1980 catalog shows that your bike should be Columbus SL or SP.

We need to see good larger drive pics the side with the chain. If a bike shop is offering $150 legit my guess is it could be worth more. But $150 cash is a great price most bikes from a shop.

That's certainly not a Trek, but I can't say what it is for sure...

Good catch I should have looked at the pics closer rather than assume the bike was what is stated. On closer look I'm pretty sure that the bike is a 1980 or so Nishiki International.

+1 I'm with zukahn1 above.

Nishiki International, in that condition, from that era? Take the $150 and run before the dealer changes their mind. While an International from that era, in pristine condition, with original decals and headbadge, great paint, fresh tires and cables, etc., is worth more than $150 (I have sold several of them), OP bike looks to be a bit of a project.

Agreed, I've never seen a Trek from that era with that seat cluster:

My guess is the frame is a mid-level Japanese production bike.

Doesn't look like a Trek. No decals, paint is really rough. Take the $150, you won't get any better for it elsewhere.

This bike is definetely not a Trek 910. Look at the serial number which should be on the bottom bracket my guess is that it starts with KI or KJ followed by 5 digits and has a M like makers mark just above it.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nishiki_(bicycle)

If it was a Trek 910 it would have Trek marketed on the chain stays just below the seat.

I agree that it's not a Trek. It's not a 63.5 either, it's about a 56 or 58

Do you own a tape measure? That alone will either confirm (I doubt it), or dispute what you were told.

Here is the serial number on the bike K9J0O242 So If any one has anyway of figuring it out I would appreciate it. I have looked on treks site but was unsure of it as it had different specifics in astericks like it could be a 950 which an employee could have made it after hours is what they used to do. Just trying to figure out what to do with this bike. Thanks

Based on that serial number and the pics the bike is a Nishiki made in late 79 early 80. These are very nice riding bikes but are lower end and very common you can probaly only get $100 or so for the bike.
