86 Marinoni Special Frame Value?

I found this bike at a local shop and I'm wondering if I should pick it up as a restore/clean up project. I have not talked to the shop owner yet about a price because I have no clue what this thing is worth to start talking price.

How much would the frame be worth after a good cleaning? The bike has a mixed bag of Shimano components on it now and if I wanted to restore it I'd be looking at a search for Campy Super Record components according to an email from Marinoni.

What do you all think?

Quite rough, no indication of size or market region. Anywhere between $100-$300.

Looks like a 56 cm frame size, and I live in Austin, TX

The frame is quite large for me... I really wish it was one that fit me as I really like the details on this frame.

In Toronto or Montreal it should bring close $300, but I'm not sure how recognizeable the brand would be in the deep south. Still, it's a very popular size and a big market. I think you should be able to find someone willing to pay around $200. They are fantastic frames. I've owned three and still have two.

Marinoni is a Canadian Master Artisan, depreciation only with dents.

I recently let a cosmetically challenged early eighties Marinoni Special frame set go for $250 but the buyer had to add another $75 for shipping costs, putting his value at $325.00. The frame went to Toronto.

That said, Marinoni has become increasingly sought after in the vintage bicycle arena. Cleaned up properly, the frame might do well.

All that said, I have owned several Marinoni bicycles, and still have a 1976 hanging in The Old Shed. They are very nicely made bicycles, offering quality materials coupled with a master builder's quality. Hard to beat that combination and the ride quality will prove that to be true.
