Bianchi Campione d'Italia Info & Year?
Hi,
I'm new here and I just picked up this black Bianchi Campione d'Italia frame off of Craigslist and am hoping to build it up.
Could someone please help a noob figure out what year it is and any other info on it? Also, with the bottom bracket having 2 different numbers (B•7 and 1868) which one is the serial number and what is the correct way to register it?
Thanks in advance for your time!

Hello SoulSteady Welcome to the forums. Where are you and the bike located? Does the frame actually have the Campione De Italia name on the TT?
The tubing, decal style and the ofmega bits make me think it is a '87 but the color is off for US bike. That HS has seen some better days to are planning to replace it?
I wonder if this from this being used as a FG? Do you have a good LBS that can repair this?
I am not sure just what these stand for but I suspect the B-7 is a date code like Feb of 87 maybe

Hi Bianchigirl,
Thanks so much for the reply. I am located in Honolulu, Hawaii. Yes, it has the Campione D'Italia on the other side. The guy I got it from said he picked it up at a yard sale and tried to clean it up to ride fixed gear and just gave up on it. Definitely want to replace the HS.
Does that help?

It does and it doesn't While I am still perplexed about the color it could be a running change maybe they ran out of the correct color CdI frames and subbed some black one. It is most likely a '87 or 88 model and they would have come with Modolo brakes, ofmega cranks and HS, and the 87 with Sprint deailleurs. the '88 with Quattro. if you want to build it sort of retro or period correct I would go for 7spd 105 for index or Campi Victory for friction.

Well, thank you so much for even that much! I so appreciate it. When registering the bike, do I just put down B-7 1868 for the serial? Sorry if that is a silly question.

Either 1868 or 8981. Hell I'd put both. Cops tend to be pretty busy and will often just glance at a serial and say "NOPE".
