Unknown Cannondale road bike
So I've been looking for a road bike with Campagnolo Veloce and I came across this beautiful Cannondale on CL. However, I suspect that it may be an older frame (maybe 90s) with upgrades cause of the Bontrager stem and saddle. Anyone got an ID on the model/year of this bicycle? Thanks a bunch guys

That's a mid-90's Cannondale SR (sports/racing) bike, maybe an R600. Don't recognize the component group but it's a very competent 56cm frame with a nice wheelset (Mavic SUP rims). Looks like a Kalloy seatpost, so may have been rehabbed by someone and the parts may not all be matched. Still, a co-worker bought one much like it (same color but all Shimano 105) last year for $500 here, and this is a pretty bike-centric area.

Dr Cannondale knows his Cannondales, I would have guessed even earlier due to the cantilevered rear drop outs. I have had several late 1980s Cannondales with those drop outs. It also has the old style top tube cable clips.
Regardless, $650 is crazy high on that bike.
Well, a quick check shows they used that canti drop out style into the 1990s, but the 1993 catalog shows a different (newer) style TT cable clamp. 1992 was the last year for that style. Bike could be several years older than that. Even if it is a 1992 model, that makes this a 20 year old aluminum frame bike. $650? Crazy land.
As a fairly frequent seller of Cannondales, one thing I have always liked is that the older ones look pretty modern, and draw buyers looking for a modern bike, particularly if it has STI. Other steel bikes from that era have zero attraction from those buyers, it really reaches a different market. Hence we have someone asking $650 for a 20 year old aluminum frame bike. WOW.

LOVE those drop outs , but I agree with Thrifty Bill $650 is on the high side even with STI's. If I "needed" it I'd probably jump at $450 though , so somewheres in between?
