Sell or keep rebuilt ITOH.

Well recently I just got done rebuilding this classic Itoh Bridgestone frame as a simple tension shift 7 speed for almost nothing using parts on hand or free from the bike coop. It is my bike not one on cl or Ebay. It wieghs in about 22lbs as set up and with the big bars long stem adjustable seat post that I put on it basically fits me now but a little small and rides good. I'm broken as to sell or keep this bike If I can get a couple of hundred I may sell it if not it is probably a keeper. Here are the pics go wild good and bad all comments help.

Where did ITOH fall in the lineup? Chrome stays are a good sign but is that an adapter claw RD? Much of the value of a bike like this depends on the frame material, as it's built up from the parts bin.

The build looks great and really well done but the black seatpost and chainring stick out like a sore thumb to me. Maybe other buyers would not care. Not knowing the frame material I would estimate $150. But if this is a rare/high end/sought after frame then the price should be higher.

22lbs is impressive for a bike from that time, even if it's missing a FD. Definitely put that in the ad if you sell it, rather than every other yahoo that says "this bike is super light!!!" without listing a weight.

I can see your point about the seat post and chainring. But the post was the only 25.8 I could find without ordering one and paying big bucks as for the chainring I may have one in silver and will consider it.

Not a bad bike from all coop parts I don't know about the frame quality either but I would be able to get about $200 for that in my area, possibly more if it had dt shifters, but usually college students don't know the difference.

I would be selling it if it was mine, probably for $150+/-. 25.8 seatposts readily available on ebay or whatever for under $20. Plain straight alloy ones for $10. At the $150 pricepoint, I would not go with the added expense. Use the proceeds to fund the next two flips, and you are off!

Stamped dropouts, stamped chrome cap on fork, no shift lever braze ons, 25.8 seat post = low end frameset. Terrific color does a nice job overcoming this, pushing the value up.

I'm not sure on the frame either it has tells of being both low end and high end it has brazed welds that are near perfect a double crown on the forks full chrome painted over front and rear forks and odd tubing sizes.

Well as a follow Up I sold the bike fairly easily $190 which kinda surprised me I thought It would be a tuffer sale. The first guy who looked at abused it on the test ride tell it threw the chain. I put another chain on it and the second guy liked and brought it no issues with it being a not a top end frame really liked the color and look.

I am glad you sold it. The bike had one of my favorite rear derailleurs. I have never had a problem with the Suntour ARX, and have owned at least one since they came out.

I have suntour AR's on my rider and they work great even running 9 speed minus one the 10 x 52 is just not usefull and super tight so I tuned it out.
