Should I buy this bike? Motobecane Super Mirage Mixte

There is an estate sale near my office tomorrow and they have a Motobecane Super Mirage mixte in the sale. I have an appt to go look at it. All I have to judge from is the picture on the auction site:

What do you think should be the maximum I should pay for this if I decide to get it? And what is is worth cleaned up and made ready to ride?

Thanks!

It is a low end bike boom product. If you can get it for $20 or $30 buy it, otherwise pass. Cleaned up & ready to ride $125.

If you have the time/tools/aptitude, and are an end user, $75 max (perhaps $100 if it is extra nice and you are in a hot market). If you are buying to resell, $50 max. Depends on your market, as I mentioned on your other thread, that is a decent bike with alloy rims and alloy three piece crankset. Most likely has a high ten steel frame (low end). Mixtes get a nice response here, and I rarely pass on one if the price is right.

top tube is interesting on this one - usually you see the split happen all the way from the head to the rear OR you see the top tube split starting at the seat tube to the rear (i.e. - the letour model) with a single from the head to the seat tube

this one the split happens midway from the head to the seat - interesting - anyway - i would say 50 max as well
the mixte frame always attracted me and i owned several before getting rid of them all due to size issues
too tough to find a mixte that fit (if there is such a thing for a six footer)

I would agree with $50 max. Bike is lower-end, and needing an overhaul.

Thanks for the info and replies. I am currently fixing up a 1974 Raleigh Sports for my wife but if this is in good enough shape the Raleigh may be finished and put on CL and the motobecane will become my next project and my wife's new ride. I was thinking around 50 myself, so I am getting into the groove of things! This forum has been incredible, and I have stayed up WAY too late for the last couple weeks reading and learning and getting deeper and deeper in the C&V grip! Thanks again for all the info!
