Penny for your thoughts ... on this rebuilt Bridgestone - CL

Hi, I'm looking into getting a vintage road bike and I've been doing a lot of research/reading on all the different manufacturers. Sheldon Brown has been a great amount of help and so has Bike Forums.

I was wondering if I can get some opinions on this Bridgestone they are selling on CL. The listing says it's fully restored, the pricing seems a little steep compared to other Bridgestone bicycles I've seen but it sure is eye catching. Any tips/pointers/suggestions would be very helpful.

Thanks for reading!

I'd pass on it; you can do better for $460. This is one of B'stone's lower end road bikes.

I agree it is a beautiful bike and either very well kept or lovingly cleaned but $450 is alot for the quality of this bike.

BTW for must of us our thoughts arn't worth a penny and we'll give you all the opinion we want to for free LOL

Polish and wax only make it shiny mid-level bike. Agree that your $450 is better spent elsewhere.

It looks great but... $450 would get you a LOT more bike where I live. Higher quality frame material and 8 speed brifters for that price. The ad is for sale by owner and he takes credit cards? Looks like a business to me.

+1 on the silly price also in hot marks cosmetics matter a lot fairly low end bikes often go for silly prices just because they look good. Maybe you should focus a little more actual quality little really nice bike that does look quit as good will = a lot better deal.

I recently sold the same model and year bike for $200 in the Twin Cities which is a hot market. It was in near perfect condition.

I will give it up to the seller of this bike the white grip tape and cables about $15 and tires likely $25. Make this bike look like it is worth more than it is. I have little doubt it will be sold in SF which is just kinda jacked up I would have put a good chain and freewheel on it.

That is ridiculously clean but definitely over-priced. and I don't like the schraeder valves.

Btw, scumrat85 if you happen to see anything you like in Phoenix Craigslist let me know. It's much cheaper over here and my brother will be driving up to SF (millbrae) in the next month so I could "ship" the bike to you for next to nothing . That goes for anyone in the forums haha too.
