Mid-1960's Royce Union 3 Speed Appraisal (?)

Hello.

Just wondering what a Royce Union (made in Japan) from the mid-1960's in decent shape might be worth. It's a kids bike and was seldom ridden (stuffed away in a garage). Original seat, paint and decals. The tires I'm not too sure about.

Thanks.

I have owned a few Royce Union bicycles, in my day, and none have done all that much to impress me, from a quality or high end point of view. An entry level, department store offered child's bicycle would likely not fetch much in today's vintage bicycle market.

It is not my intention to offend, but the most I could expect from such a bicycle, if I could even sell it, would be twenty dollars.

Chopper bikes are kind of a weird area of collecting. While I too would only be willing to pay $20 or so for it, I do see that it has a stick shift/console which is usually a good thing for value on these. Even with the missing knob, that part alone is worth $20-$30.

Being an off-brand it won't ever be worth as much as a Schwinn Stingray or a Raleigh Chopper though. To the right person it may be worth as much as $100 since it looks original and has some interesting parts on it. But I would not be too sad to get $50 for it either.

I kind of like the $50 estimate. I think at $100, most will be turned off. The last time I sold a Stingray, in good condition except for the rear tire, it went for around $50. The guy who bought it had no intention of adding it to his collection, he bought for his daughter to ride. Royce Union was a box store brand and will never bring the $$$ a Schwinn will.
