Scored a 1986 Team Fuji tonight!

Just bought a 1986 Team Fuji tonight off of the local Craigslist. It's a little rough with a bunch of cleanup needing to be done. Still I was able to test ride it up and down the block. The bike has the Suntour Sprint group of components, Modolo anatomical bend bars and fujita seat. There is an old Avocet computer on it that will most probably get dumped in the circular file.

I figure I didn't get hurt very badly for only $100.

What is the approximate value of this thing in when I get it cleaned up, greased and fully adjusted?

Where in the Fuji lineup did this bike fit?

What is the back story behind the Suntour Sprint components? Are they top of the line or just mid-level?

Are there replacements such as brake lever hoods for the Suntour sprint components?

Sprint is near the top, but not the top. Buyers really like sprint stuff.

I've always liked that generation of Team Fuji and you stole it for that price. I'm sure the Fujiphiles will chime in with more info.

The Suntour Sprint (is it equipped with Sprint or Sprint 9000?) was a top-of-the-line Competition group just under the Superbe Pro components. Lotus used the Sprint 9000 group on the 1987 Lotus Legend which was their top sport bike at the time and cost well over $800.00.

The Sprint brake hoods are tough to find, but Dia Compe hoods might work.

I can't find 9000 on any of the components so I assume that they are just Suntour Sprint.

Yes, I had the feeling that I was stealing it, but that was the price the guy listed on Craigslist. I didn't haggle or quibble, just peeled off five $20 bills and shook the guys hand. As one of my uncles used to say, I was afraid he might die on the spot and his relatives wouldn't honor the deal!

I was just hoping he wouldn't ask me what I though the bike was worth. Didn't want to have to lie to him!

I had a Faggin that had Suntour Sprint. I liked it a lot. Easy on the eyes and it worked really well - especially the brakes. My group was non-index and came with Superbe shifters.

That's a nice looking bike overall! Price is great as well.

What model is the computer? I'm looking for a Model 25

I paid $100 for mine, but the PO had swapped out almost all the Sprint components for a Shimano 600 tri-color group (indexed) years ago. I wish he still had the Sprint stuff. Value? I've seen cleaned up Teams on CL in the $250-$300 range, but I don't know the actual sales price.
