1984 Merckx Corsa
https://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/bik/3092956338.html
Just bought this w/ the money I made from the CdI. Picking it up tomorrow. If cleaned up, what would be resale?
If possible, can anyone determine what model DA is it?

For that price, you stole it- especially in SF. Unless there are problems. Appears to be 74XX series DA but craptastic pics make it hard to determine more than RD and crankset, both of which look like 7410.

There have been three Corsas for sale locally for a similar pricein the last three months.
I have been able to buy and find new homes for each of these quickly.
Well, except for one.
But we are in the Twin Cities and you are in a fast selling market.
Nice deal on a pretty bicycle.
Have you visited cadre.org to help id yours yet?
Many similarities between Corsas and Professionals.
Some key differences as well, but both are great riders.

Ahh, alrighty. I'm picking up the bike later today. Only issue right now is NDS pedal-hole is stripped. (Just going to have it heli-coiled). I'll get more pictures up once I have it in possesion. Thanks for all the input! Much appreciated!
Plans right now are
-Overhauling the Hubs, BB, and Headset.
-Framesaving
-Clear nail polish any nicks.
-Cleaning rust off the small steel hardware on the components and polishing.
Can't really say till I see the bike.

So here's what up right now. I'll be posting in on the c/v forum for build updates.
Paint isn't the best condition, there's strong rub on the head tube from the cables. some chips here and there. No dents. The paint itself is beautiful, it's this nice pearl color which reflects blue in the sunlight.
According to cadrex- the s/n being a 3X - 852A makes it a 53cm 1986/7 Eddy Merckx Corsa Extra
Oh and it's a shimano 600 crank :/ downer..
I'll update this with photos.
Oh and some other ironic thing. RD is controlled through a DA Brifter, FD through a DA downtube shifter...
https://www.flickr.com/photos/ibapinp...th/7428680982/
This is the set.
Now my questions are, what would the tubing be? *More to come.

@ IthaDan Talked the guy down to 550
He told me I had 20 something people waiting behind me.
Short term goals are either a full set of dt shifters or brifters. New headset and polishing/overhauling components.

Weight and trim for the front on climbing stages. I always thought it was more for the trim as early STIs weren't what they are now. Although, I don't have any trouble with my tricolor STIs.

Should I get 2 new brifters, or 2 new dt shifters or keep the current setup?

As usual, here's the completed photos. What would be a reasonable asking price? Going up on CL in a few days.

What are the hubs and rims on the wheelset?
With those photos and a proper description and that size and your location and you are sure it is a Corsa Extra, I would aim for $1300. Mention the colours having to do with the Giro D'Italia and the Tour de France.

Great looking bike. I have a Merckx Corsa and my 8 speed DA brifters were SUPPOSED to be delivered today. I will have that same drive train. I love the look of the crank. Was it easy to get the shifting all dialed in? I understand only DA 8 speed brifters will work with that RD. I could be wrong but I believe I read it on Sheldon Brown.
Here is what UPS has on the website about my delivery>

An exception in the sorting process has occurred. UPS has taken corrective action.

It means they ********* up.

@TMH Sorry to hear that. 7700 9 speed Brifters can go into 8 speed mode when paired with the 8 speed RD. I just liked the look of the older 74xx brifters. Yes shifting was quite simple to get dialed in.

Beautiful!!!! I would go the Ebay route rather than CL. If it's an Extra, you should be able to get north of $1200 with ease.

Sold for 1500 in the SF Bay Area, Thank you for all your help and inputs!

EDIT: I AM SO TORN RIGHT NOW. I LOVE THE BIKE. LOOOOVE IT. AAAGHHH! I mean, I'm only 16,
I have many more years to find the "right one". The frame is 3cm too small, but I already fixed that by finding the right stem length and now it fits like a glove. Man. I'm. so. torn.
