Peugeot Pipeline-5

I found this Peugeot at a thrift store. I can not find any info on it on line. It is a 5 speed. It is all original but it definitely needs a new chain. Will a SRAM pc58 work? Any history on this type of bike would also be greatly appreciated. What would it be worth? Contemplating sending it to college with my daughter but if it has any value I would probably rethink it because I don't want her having to worry about a bike-napping.. hahaha

Good choice for college, very basic bike: nutted axles, claw RD hanger, one piece crank, steel seat post, etc. Good, basic bike with very limited value.

Realize anything is subject to being stolen. My first college bike lasted one week and it was a POS.

Myself on 5 speed bikes I use KMC Z30/Z33 chain, I pick it up for less than $5.

I don't follow PUG MTB'S but typically see them listed between $60-$120, and they take a long, long, time to sell, in part because they look dirty and tired.

Hi, I have an opportunity to buy a 1986 Five Speed Pipeline 5 Peugeot. It's in decent shape (working condition with nicks and scratches) with commuter tires. What would be the fair value (USD) for one?

Simply obtain the lowest price 1/2 x 3/32 chain you can locate of the same length

Inspect the smallest 2 cogs on the freewheel for wear ....if little wear is present, then replacing the chain should result in no problems ....if the 2 smallest freewheel cogs are 'worn', then your chain may 'skip' under pedalling force

depends on condition and your market. Where I live, it’s $25 to $50. It’s nothing special, but could be a decent around town bike.
