vintage bike help please?
i couldn't find a post on vintage bikes and wanted to ask a few questions if anybody knows anything about vintage bikes.
so i have a 1960s viking gold star i have looked all over the net for its bottom bracket size and wounder if there was a stock size for these bikes? i need to replace the bottom bracket so i can fit my new crank witch takes a square taper axle and the required bottom bracket for the crank is 110mm i dont want to order any old bottom bracket and it doesn't fit the bike. please please help me out or if anyone has the bike specs i would much appreciate it! i will try add pictures but i don't think its going to work

Measure bottom bracket width. 70= Italian. 68= French or English.
Remove drive side cup. Lefty loosey/righty tighty = French. Other way around equals English (drive side cup is reverse threaded).
There are a couple of other options, but they are fairly obscure or unlikely. It is possible someone with more experince with this brand will read this posting; even better if it gets moved to C&V regular as opposed to the valuation forum. Mods, he's not asking for a valuation, and there's a heck of a lot more traffic on the regular C&V board, so feel free to move it (again).

Hi Thatslife, Welcome to C&V. I'm certain the Bottom Bracket (BB) on your Viking is a 68mm 'English' version (see Poguemahone's description above). Therefore you can fit a 110mm square taper English axle in your existing cups and bearings. The drive side cup will have a 'reverse thread'. This means that you turn it clockwise to loosen it.
Lovely old Viking by the way, don't see too many of them around any more.
