'90s Trek 1200 value
This bike along my recent 520 were a garage find. I finsihed this bike a few days ago and I am going to give it to my son.
I'm just wondering the value of it.
I did add a set of 2x8 600 STI shifters mainly because my son requested them but I do have the original Shimano 600 downtube shifters that go along with it.

Constant tinkerer
Alex rims would be a negative for me. I'd want the original wheelset or better. I agree with $250. People routinely ask $400-500 for these on the local C/L but they're dreaming. $300 would be about top dollar I think.

Well I am not if its the original wheelset, but I do have a set of matrix rims laced to 105 hubs that would look more at home on this bike but my son liked the Alex rims. They spin true and for the money I paid, I'm not going to complain. I will just keep the Matrix/105 wheelset for another project of my own. I got the Matrix wheelset along with the Alex wheels, and the 520 from the other thread and the campy/105 wheelset and the 1200 frameset from a woman's garage near me.
For fun, yestesterday I swapped out the black bottle holders on the 1200 for a pair of almost matching yellow bottle holders. I think this bike would look amazing if it had a yellow or black/yellow saddle but for now, the yellow adds quite a bit of zip to the look of the bike.

Yellow bar tape and housing with pink decals and a white seat
I agree at around 250. I'd say the brifters are a + even though not original and the older tires are a -. The wheels are certainly not original but neither are the components so I wouldn't worry about it.

LOL The yellow bar tape was on the drop bars that I put on the bike. It came with flat bars and the original 600 brake levers. I found the drop bars at the co-op that had the yellow bar tape so I reused it. I didn't want to spend any more money on the bike. The yellow housing are there because we only had yellow shifter housing at the shop. No black so yellow is what it got. I used the yellow brake housing just because it matched the yellow shifter housing. So the bike ended up with yellow trim more out of necessity, not by choice.

+1 on $250 as the median price. I've sold them for as little as $175 really beat up and $300 in almost new condition. The older aluminum round tube Treks ride better than you might expect.

Oh I also put the original Shimano 600 pedals on the bike and got rid of the big platform pedals. I put the big pedals on so I could ride it. I don't do well with skinny pedals (bum ankle).

Gave the bike to my son tonight. He loves it even with the colors. He actually said he might want to get a pink seat to match the pink lettering. Hipsters. LOL
