Gitane? ID ?

Here is what I believe to be a Gitane from the seventies from my searches of French bikes. It has 440-450mm stays over squarre 56-st, 57-tt, , I get from 26.8 to 27.1 on the seat tube diameter so I am guessing 27.0? Stem 22.2. Curently running a normandy high flange six speed in the rear and something different in the front. Any information would be helpful. Particulary model and tubing. It looks lke a good candidate for 700c with fat tires.

Looks like a Raleigh Gran Sport.
In fact I know it is a Gran Sport. Long cage Simplex derailleur and Carlton Seat bolt.

Pic of entire bike would be helpful.

It would make a fine rider with 700c wheels and fat tires.

Thanks for the ID! So it is a Gran Sport. I am guessing a 73 as 73 is stamped in the front of the lug at the seatpost -toptube junction. Serial is 0043040 . Does the serial indicate a Carlton or Nottingham build? I pulled the seatpost and get 27.2 farther down so I am guessing DB 531 tubeset? Can anybody ID the fork crown as that should ID the fork blades via the catalogs. How do these ride compared to nineties steel With the long stays and wheelbase it out to be pretty comfy?
