Help with A Pgeot I.D.
Hi Folks, I recently picked up this Peugeot and am a bit lost with it's identification. I went and looked at all the catalogs and I think it's a 1977, but I can't tell the difference between the UO-8 and the PX-10, especially with all the chrome going on. The bike has Rigida wheels and Weismann brakes, and a Mailliard cassette. Any points on visual id of these two bikes would be greatly appreciated. -Chris

I don't think it is either a OU-8 or PX-10. more pics and details will help the Pug fans figure it out.

Still learning
Pretty sure it is a UE-8, 1974 +/-, but the saddle is throwing me off. But the saddle could be aftermarket.

#2 PX10 would not have stem shifters.
#3 PX10 would not have cottered crank.
List goes on and on. Differences are huge.

It's got a braze on for the generator, pretty sure it's a '74+ UE8.

That saddle, even if only 1960s vintage, could be worth something...look for comparable sales on eBay. Are you looking to buy the bike?
The rack looks to be older and interesting, too.
That bike would be satisfying to refurbish and ride, with a proper saddle, of course.

Thanks so much folks. After getting your thoughts I went to the Peugeot catalogs and looked up the UE-8 and yes, you're absolutely right. It's a 77'. Here's a picture of it all cleaned up. I have to buy a cable cutter and get that done. The new bar tape is on it's way, but what I don't know is whether to replace the saddle with something that looks nice or sell it with the crazy seat that it came with. I'd love to hear your views on that one. Also, I'm going to ebay this bike and would love some input on worth or at least an ebay auction reserve. Thanks so much, Chris
Oh, and after reading your posts and seeing that the UE-8's all came with racks, I'll be putting the rack back on. Thanks again.
