Fuji bike year and make unknown?
Local bike shop said it was a fuji but they were getting ready to close but said I could find it online,but don't understand Fujis code breakdown. The serial number is k9j00242. Any help would be appreciated.they said it would be around 200+ to go through the bike and get it back to riding condition. Really not sure if it would be worth it or just sell it like it is and let someone else restore it. They said it has shimano 600 series crank set,nitto bars sun tour deruylers.

Looks like a mid-level bike, right around 1980 plus or minus a couple years.
Realize any used bike you buy is probably going to need a complete overhaul unless it's already been done. Almost every old used bike I buy needs all the bearings regreased and all the cables redone. The parts are very cheap (grease is basically free...) but what you're paying for at the shop is the labor. It takes several hours or more to go through and old bike and make it right. If you have the time/tools/interest to do the work yourself you can do ok on this bike. If you're paying a shop to do it you can be upside down even if you got the bike for free.

Per T-Mar's excellent Fuji serial number thread, your bike was made in October 1974. Being made so late in the year, it is likely a 1975 bike.
https://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...umber-Database
SERIAL NUMBERS 1971-1974*:
Serial number format WXYZZZZZ where;
W = a letter, all cases to date being F, K or M, with F presumibly indicating Fuji.
X = a number, indicating the last digit of the Japanese Imperial calendar year, Showa reign (6 = Showa 46 = 1971, 7 = Showa 47 = 1972, etc.)
Y = a letter, indicating the calendar month of manufacturer (A = January, B = February, C = March, etc.)
ZZZZZ = four or five digit number sequence, probably indicating frame number during month
Example: F7C10256 indicates the 10,256th frame manufactured during March 1972.

A quick guess would be an early to mid '70's Special Road Racer (S10-S). The brazed on pump peg is the key.
Great bikes to ride, most likely not worth putting a lot of money into. They come up for sale in mint condition for less than $200 sometimes. In it's glory days, it might have looked like this, my '73:

Repainted and needs a lot of work = minimal value. Sell as is to someone with a pile of parts, or if you want the parts, tear it down, put the parts in your bins, and donate the frameset to a bike co-op.
As is sale ~ $50.
