Motobecane Champion Team 1975-1976 55cm ideas on value?

Motobecane Team Champion in 55cm and would like to know the value based on what you is shown. It's in very nice condition with a few rubs from the back wheel but no dents and showing very nicely. When I purchased it I was really hoping to fall in love with it as I have with my older Peugeots but has not been the case. If any of you have an idea I would appreciate the input. Yes, the bottle cages are riv-nutted but does not show with the cages on. Also the bar end levers well,..........that's how I got it and haven't thought about changing.

There is another place on bike forums where we discussed this bike. Feel free to look it up as we spend a bit of time discussing age and rivnuts!!!
I look forward to your replies.

Best bet is to put it on the bay with a reserve you are comfortable. I bought mine over 5 years ago for under $800. Yours is a good size and generate some interest. Invest in some more retro looking bottle cages.

Great looking bike! Yeah even just some silver alloy cages would look much better.

The OP is located in the midwest. If it's a major metro area, like ORD, MSP, MKE, DTW, STL, or CVG, I would think he could sell it locally and do well enough. Not sure about Cleveland or Columbus.

What is that supposed to mean? Many riders love their French bikes for the excellent ride quality.

It means I'm not one of those many. It wasn't intended to be a serious Jab hence the tongue it it's any consolation though I don't get Merckx either

A larger but nearly identical Champion Team sold on eBay a while ago for $1,000 buy it now. There have been others, but they aren't in the archive anymore.
So eBay maybe $1,000 if you are patient.
Craigslist maybe $600-$800 depending on local market
Garage sale maybe $50

For what it's worth, if I saw one my size in similar condition, I wouldn't hesitate at $800 but it would have to be very special at $1,000 or more. The '74 through 76-77 are selling for much more than the later ones, and BIC orange for more than other colors.

EDIT: I just saw the rivnut cage mounts. OOPS subtract $200 except for the Garage sale estimate.

I'd try selling it here first -I think you'll get a buyer atta reasonable number on this one. No eBay fees, no eBay drama and you keep it in the "club".

Agree that the rivnut cage mounts hurt the price of the bike.

Good luck! If it was my size, I'd be sorely tempted to bid on it -- it's such a nice-looking bike!
