Paramount questions

So I was thinking of getting my GF some seel. I was wondering if this is a good deal?

https://denver.craigslist.org/bik/4184195293.html

Is this a Waterford bike?

I would maybe put some Campy Chorus on it.

Any thoughts? How does this bike ride and is it a good price?

Thanks

Ryan

No photo of the actual bike so it's hard to assess. No it is not Waterford, but is a Paramount Design Group import.

$300 or so is a pretty good deal if it has a good extra wheelset with it. Hope your GF is pretty tall too, at least 5'9".

I know it doesn't have pics . I sent to him for some. Yes she is pretty tall. I bought her a 56cm Roubaix and it fits her well so I figured I could make this one fit as well.
Wouold it be a waiste of money to upragde the grouppo to chorus ? I think I can get one on fleabay for $900.

Why would you change the group? Unless you already have all the parts putting Chorus (or most any CampI group) on it will cost more than the bike.

Is your GF that smitten with riding with you or wishful thinking on your part?

Although I have a Paramount series 5 myself, putting $900 into upgrades into that bike qualifies as a waste of money to me. Shop harder, and just get a complete bike set up the way you want it. I've got mine set up with mostly 8 speed Shimano 600 tricolor STI (except for Truvativ compact crankset and 105 wheelset from a Fuji)..

Mine is a 1992. I have a mini-collection of 1992 series Paramounts with a series 5, 7, 9C and 70. I also had a series 3 (moved on). So yeah, I like them.

She rides with me all the time. I think she got in about 5k miles this year. She climbs better than I can as well. She has a Specialized Roubaix. I just wanted to introduce her to a steel bike without spending a ton of money

I'd buy the Paramount and leave it as is. Trust me, the Shimano 105 on the Paramount will work just as well if not better than Chorus....or Record form the same time period.

But, if your hell bent on Chorus just buy a complete bike as recommended by wrk.

+1 The original 105 on the Paramount is just fine. I upgraded to 8 speed STI only because I wanted STI and I had a pile of parts. I would have not dropped serious $$ into the upgrade.
