Gios evolution

I have been looking for a nice classic steel bike now that I have a better high paying job.
I have been coming back to this gios every time, I love the frame I love the look and I absolutely love the gios bikes.
Very well made and fast bikes.
He want's 375 but I talked him down to 300.
He said hes a bike mechanic who rebuilt this bike from ground up converting it into a fixed gear.
Its a beautiful bike which in my POV is a nicely built and my type of build.

But what I was wondering was is this bike worth 300 is it an original frame is it real as what you can see.

Here is the ad https://lexington.craigslist.org/bik/4124002882.html
So please tell me all you can about this bike, Thank you in advanced.

I hope your about 6'4. a 62 cm frame is pretty damn big.

I think the wheels looks ridiculously horrible.

kind of a shame that this classic beauty was violated and stripped down. just my opinion

not worth $300 to me any more.

I'm 6'3 and I ride a 62cm now and its perfect.
I was honestly talking to the guy about the rims and wheels.
I was saying if I got it I would want to switch them out with something a little better and more suitable.
So in all in all, would it be worth it or no?
I am not a fan of the wheels but to me everything looks good, I love the bars I love the bike and the crank. Just not the rims.
But over all a god bike?

I agree with Catonec...not worth the $300 to me, in the current state...those wheels are hideous! The frame seems to be a nice one...and...you have pretty much convinced yourself. If you are buying it to ride, it fits you and YOU like the look/style...then it is kind of hard to go wrong at the $200 - $300 range...just be aware, if you want to put it back into being a geared road bike...more money...and you can probably, with patience, find a really good road bike for the sam price.

I would buy it if I were you since you know it will fit and it will be a great winter project. Presumably the current owner converted it, maybe he still has the old parts and you guys can work something out...

Sell the wheels with tires for $100 in the spring. A Gios frameset in the classic cobalt blue in your size with extras for $200? No problem that I can see.

I would honestly like to keep it a FG/SS bike for that's the bikes I like and I currently ride.
But the wheels are definitely being sold when I buy those wheels around here go pretty quick.
But any ideas on what type of rims and wheels I should get?

Yeah he says he built it not long ago but has 14 bikes and his girl hates that he has so many and has to sell some to make room.
He says he's a bike mechanic and knows what he's doing and it's a great build.
But I'd like to keep it a FG/SS cause that's the bikes I ride.
but definitely the rims are gone, wheels like that go very fast around here.
But any ideas on wheel/rim sets that would really pop on this bike?

the GIOS agent for the u.s. in the seventies and eighties was a company in nyc called faema (later fama) sales co. their main business was and is espresso machines. GIOS was the only bicycle related line they carried. the company was headed up by Sig. Ugo Quazzo.

Go for it!! Gios is one of the best frames around and will only increase in value!! If it fits take it for a trip.

The frame size is 62CM. This is for someone 6'0+ with a 33"+ inseam.
33" inseam for a 6'0 rider is okay but that rider is on a 56 or 58 and not a 62.

Gotta disagree with ya Stan. I am 5"11. 34" cycling inseam and a 62-63 (C-T) fits me best. I believe in the old fist full of seat post rule from the 1970s, any more than that the bars are too low for my taste.

I'm 6'1" with a 34" inseam and my 62cm Gios fits perfectly. I believe Gios uses shorter top tubes relative to seat tubes than most.

That said, my frame model is not an Evolution.

Thank you so much, I have seen on a few other forums these bikes were very sought after.
I may have to get it.
Thanks again.
