'88 Schwinn Tempo value
I'm looking at what appears to be an all original (other than normal replaceables like tires, cables, etc.) '88 Schwinn Tempo. Has 12 speed 105, frame appears to be in good shape (minimal scrapes, no dents or anything.) New Hutchinson tires. Damn nice looking bike (trying to post photos.) Asking price is $275. I'm thinking closer to $200 would be more comfortable for me.

I'm a big fan of my Tempo ('84). I scored it for $100, but knowing what I know now I could have paid double that with zero remorse.

In your part of the world, not a bad price. 225 or 250 would be better, but the tires save you 40 bucks or so. If the finish is in good shape and it fits you, go for it.

unfortunately there was someone else ahead of me. Now looking at an '87 Le Tour and '90 754. I like the hand made steel but also like the Schwinn aluminum framed bikes.

In case you didn't already know, make sure you check out the seatpost very very carefully on that 754. They're almost impossible to obtain (rare quill-style, like a stem) and were prone to cracking.

I've seen close up photos from a few angles and there is no apparent cracking around the adjustment screw. Or is there any place else to look?

While the '87 Le Tour was a nice bike I'm pretty sure it doesn't qualify as "hand made" steel. I'd definitely get it over the aluminum 754 with goofy quill post though.
