Nishiki Tri-A circa 1986 - please give feedback
New to the forum so I hope to get some good feedback.
I've got my eye on a Nishiki Tri-A that's from around 1986. I've found some info on it from other posts online, but thought I'd throw it out there for comments. From the ad online:
Nishiki road bike, made of Tange no 1 tubing, double butted seamless, chrome moly, equivalent of upper line Columbus, or Reynolds tube sets. Very clean frame, paint very good and only a couple minor scratches, Uppper line, Shimano 600 components, still have a near new shine about them. Araya rims, tires are like new, 700c.nice MKS platform pedals with toe clips and straps. 12 speed, indexed shifting on down tube. Cateye cycle computer w cadence. Bike is all original except for front set aero bars. Frame size should fit around 5ft
I've never owned a Nishiki and the only one I've ridden was a mountain bike. What's everyone think? Is this worth $350 if it's in good shape and needs no work to be road worthy?
Thanks!

Hello Welcome to the forums.
No pics? Desire, condition and location are all big factors. I belive the Tri-A was geared towards the Tri crowd so it is definitely a race oriented bike is that what you are looking for?
It sounds like a pretty small bike if the seller is correct on his claim of fitting someone around 5 ft. Most times you see something like fits 5' to 6'3'.

@lovethebigring,
Looks like you hail from Cleaveland.
Nishiki Tri A road bike tange No 1, shimano 600,53cm frame
That's a very clean bike which would fit a rider of 5'6" or shorter. A comparable vintage bike is the Centurion Ironman Master/Expert and in similar condition as the bike you are considering, it would trade for $275 to over $375.
I suggest you check it out and test ride it. Then strike the best deal you can. If the tires are old and brittle, or the seller hasn't had the wheel, crank, and headset bearings cleaned and regreased since he owned the bike, then I would start in the mid $200's.
Good luck!
I have the one below in my inventory and it appears to be a well crafted ride.
