1984 Centurion Pro Tour 15

Sold new in 1984 for $480 ( i have the original sales slip in the owners book) A friend bought this box stock about 15 years ago and I converted it to flat bars ,18 speeds, indexing shifters and all necessary cable and hanger mods.I put the original pieces including the long cage cyclone RD and the bars, levers and shifters etc in a box. Last week he sold me the bike and the box of all the extra parts. NOW it is a nice riding "light weight" roadster as it was when I finished it, but since I will be selling it on , all or in pieces, where is the best value? As it is and sell off the original pieces OR Take it back to box stock original and sell off the indexing partial Suntour group? Any idea of Value? It is a 9.5 out of 10, Thanks, Jack

I have a soft spot for Centurions, therefore my opinion would be to return it to stock. Sell the "modern" parts off, and see that it goes to an appreciative owner in it's original condition.

+1 vintage touring put it back right rather to ride or sell it is 2/3X the bike as a classic touring bike then what it is know Half as strait bars cut the value to less than half.

Nice bike, and one I think is usually worth as much as the sum of its parts, since none of the parts it came with are crazy-expensive collectors items. Be nice to keep it all together, for someone who appreciates that; also makes it less of a hassle to sell, bit by bit. But even if you do decide to keep the RD, whoever buys the bike can usually score a replacement on the big auction site with $50 and some patience. My ProTour came (and went) with a perfectly good Deore substitute.

It is officially springlike and well into the buying a bicycle frenzy that happens every year here. You might sell it for that listed price because of the touring aspect and quality.
