What's this bike worth?

It looks like a 1977 model. The frame and fork are 1020 carbon steel (TT and DT are single butted), steel Araya rims, low end components. Catalog weight for a 23" frame bike is 32 pounds. The large size hurts the value. Retail price in 1977 was $142.95.
I'm guessing value is in the $75 - $100 range.

What Scooper said. That is a huge bike and will only fit a few people.

$125 is as low as he would go. My original thought was $50 to $75 knowing nothing about the values of old bikes.

I bought the 80's version of this bike in that size for $75. I am 6"5' and had always wanted to try one. I think it is overpriced at $125. I would wait him out as I doubt he will have many takers.

That's the thing. There's what it's worth, and then there's what it's worth to you. Those are often different numbers.

I offered him $50 after he offered to me for $80. If I were to get the bike, I would probably use it on my trainer and to knock around with and just bring it out for fun when company comes over or ride it in really sloppy weather. I'm sure the bike would need a tune up, pedals, and definitely needs a new seat at a minimum.
I'm from a pretty small town with a pretty small cycling community and an even smaller 6' 6" and above population who are into bicycles. His customer base is pretty small I would think.

Yup, when it's $100 or less why sleep on it? Albeit, I must confess I slept on this one overnight, mostly because of an already full garage. But I picked it up this 1989 Tempo 2 hours ago. Full 105 and Concor saddle.

For under a $100 seems like a fairly good deal for a larger rider. Road bikes that are semi decent don't last long for under $100 so I wouldn't wait if you wabr it.
