80s Raleigh 12 speed
Hey guys,
I came across an old Raleigh and was wondering if you could help me identify it (model) and tell me whether it's worth the $150 asking price or what it is worth. Much obliged :-)

I am not convinced a Raleigh, I have never seen such a low quality Raleigh. It may be a rebuild low end one, or a later years US one where the naming rights were sold off. Anyway its worth about $25.

Still learning
$40 max, but the tires are cracked. Looks similar to the Rampar below, but a notch or two lower. Cheap quality frame and lowest grade components.

Go to theheadbadge.com and snoop through the late 1970's early 1980's catalogs.

Indeed I have no idea what model it is, but I'd believe it's something Raleigh sold as I can't see someone bothering to affix Raleigh decals to a bike such as that. Definitely low end, but I think $25 is a somewhat harsh appraisal IMO. I wouldn't buy it myself, but any lugged steel frame is good working order is worth $100 in many markets. And I think it's worth that as a knock around the city, don't care too much if it's stolen, ride from the dorm to class sort of bike. Okay, maybe $75.
(It really all depends on your market. In hot urban markets at this time of year, a bike such as that will command $100. But in a lot of other markets, you can find a much better bike if you keep looking. If you're in a hot market and want a bike for shorter commutes, this would do. But I couldn't really recommend it. And I hate stem shifters. There are a few rare old touring exceptions, but it's a good rule of thumb that stem shifters signify a bottom end bike).
edit - I hadn't looked at that last photo closely enough. does look like it needs new tires. unless you're in a really tough market, I'd look further.
