hi - just bought this bike from an Italian lady and she did not have any info on this bike as it belongs to her husband who passed away recently.

really appreciate if any of you bike experts provide comments re: value of this bike, any detail info and/or any suggestions if I should upgrade anything or keep it as is...etc

Welcome to the forums. The color of the bike, style of Bianchi decals as well as the round World Champ sticker and the shimano light action all point to this being an '88 model. The Strada was a nice basic Taiwanese built bike, three tubes ChroMoly w/ HiTen stays and fork. Looks like it could use a good cleaning.

As for the value?... what did you pay? Would you have paid $20 more? $50? I would say the current value if just what you paid for it. It is a nice bike to get around on and do some working out on but it isn't something you can flip for huge profit.

guess my 3 hours of 'cleaning job' last weekend was NOT up to 'standard' ........ :-)
ok - I only use mild soap and water (really do not want to use harsh chemicals on the old paint.... )
so - any suggestions as what cleaning agent that I can use without too much damage to the paint or environmentally friendly ?
No - I'm not planning to flip the bike for any profit.... yes, I agree, I think I paid fair local market value for it ....
not sure if you saw my intro - I let my son borrowed my 77'Fuji when he started his university and it got stolen. This could be the replacement for my good old Fuji...
Any comments about if I should upgrade/replace any parts ? if so, in what priority ? ie: with limited budget, I have to do the most 'bang for the buck' items first ....etc

OH don't worry it looks great I just get a little OCD sometime. Actually I sometimes take new purchases to the *gasp* carwash spray then down with simple green give the drive train and other grimy parts a little scrubbing with an old bottle brush and hose it down. I'll often resinse the frame with some fresh water when I get it apart (not inside) and use some good paste car wax. Lemon pledge works great too.

Excellent upgrade from the Fuji and I am sure you'll love the index shifting.

I wouldn't worry about upgrading anything just for the sake of upgrading but if something breaks by all means upgrade at that time. A nice set of Tektro aero style brake lever may make riding on the hoods (aka brake levers) more comfortable and make the bike look sportier,
