Vintage Zeus Appraisal

Hey guys, first post on the forum. I'm in Pittsburgh looking for bikes on Craigslist, when I noticed this guy: Vintage Zeus Road Bike, 56cm, 10-speed. It looks only slightly worse for the wear, but I really have no idea how to evaluate what the value range should be. Does anyone know what a reasonable offer might be for various conditions that the bike might be in?

Thanks so much for the help.

Hello Tethros, welcome to the forums. First of all what do you want the bike for? This may not be a good choice for a commuter or campus bike. Zeus bikes were just like everyone elses some good some OK. This looks a little nicer than middle of the road and it might be a bit newer than '60s. It does look like it needs a lot work, a complete overhaul and good deep cleaning, to be a nice rider. The tubular wheels and tires can be difficult for a new rider to deal with. Despite what the seller claims the bikes were not directly with Campagnolo (in fact I don't Campagnolo ever made bike frames) but Zeus like a few other companies actually copied Campagnolos designs. CHeck outy a site called Velobase.com and you migh get a better idea of the age of the bike.

Personally without better pics and some idea of the condition of the wheels and bearing I would offer $150-200 for this as project expecting to spend maybe $50 in parts and 10+ hpurs of work. If you can't do the work pass.
