It is not in the best condition but it is rideable. How much should I pay?

Condition, originality, and location are important to establishing value. Please post up some good pics.

Without seeing the condition and how many of the components are original it is hard to say how much it is worth. Originality is king, even if it is not in the best condition if the components are all original it could still be worth $200 or more. If you post pictures of the entire bike (drive side) and as many close-ups as possible we can provide a more accurate value.

As a matter of fact I'm not sure if even the frame is original. I have read that the serial number for a schwinn of this year should be on the front of the bike and under the emblem and off to the left a little. The serial number on this one is directly centered under the emblem. Could this still be an authentic bike?*

While most production Schwinns of that vintage had the serial number stamped on the headtube offset to the right (drive side) the number on the handmade fillet-brazed frames could be offset to the right, centered, or even to the left (non-drive side). Another important thing to note is that the serial number only indicates when the frame was made, the fillet-brazed frames were built in batches and often sat for a year or more before being painted and built into a bike.
