Hey guys,

I'm trying to get some more information on this frame so I can make a quality listing on ebay. Other than the obvious, it's 531 steel tubing, etc is there anything special about this bike that would be worth mentioning? A little history or anything?

Well it is worth mentioning this is a somewhat older frame from the 60's so no braze on's integrated DR hanger and likely 120 rear spacing and longer brake reach. The frame looks to be in very good condition with original paint decals and artwork intacted which is a big plus value wise.

Its a late 70's Competition GS - (Gran Sport). It was originally equipped with a 70's era Campy Gran Sport group. They came in black too which seems to garner more interest.
Very nice bikes, sport-rec geometry. Can handle fenders.

Nope. Late 70's, probably '78 or '79.

I had one, it was a really great riding bike. These had steeper geometry than the earlier models. Just barely fit 32mm tires. I could do fenders with 28's.

OP, do you have the serial number?

It's very hard to make out. It starts with a "W" and ends with 03316, there's 3 other digits in between the W and the last 5 numbers that could be 0's... it's worn so it's very hard to tell.

Just kidding, it's WD9003316

Made in March, 1979 at the Carlton factory in Worksop, England.

Awesome, thanks for your help. I'm half tempted to buy it myself, the owner had it sitting in our warehouse since I started working in our shop. Would be a cool project.

They're great frames. Like I said, mine was one of my favorites.

If it fits, build it up. Not a lot of folks looking for bikes that big. Bad time of year to be selling.
