1991 Lemond Ventoux Team Z

I got the bare frame, 57cm, Chromor tubing, and added a Record 8 speed group off of a basement bargain and some NOS Triomphe pedals.

Decals intact no damage, 5 small chips touched up.

Looking to unload this, would like to know what to budget - not a lot of sales of like bikes on flea-bay.

It has a Shimano headset, unfortunately I'm unable to put the appropriate Camapgnolo one on due to stack height limits thanks to the PO.

Hoods, tape and pedals are new. Tires are worn, not fully cabled since it'll be disassembled for transport.

I'd part it out. The Record group with Deltas should bring as much or more than the bike as a whole. Being that you are in Switzerland, I wouldn't think the Lemond name would have the same cachet as in the US.

Part it out and sell everything on Ebay. Maybe $1200 parted out....in the spring.

As it sits $800 because the frame is big and made of cromor tubing.

Bikes: No-name LH drive track. Also ride an Exxon Graftek, a Masi, a Trek R200 or a RR Boneshaker for fun!

I don't think 57cm is big, but agree that if you want to maximize profit, you went the wrong direction with this one.

To me, builds like that are appropriate when it is a keeper, not for resale. Maybe that was your original intention and your priorities changed?

Actually I prefer to minimize transactions and be rid of alot of stuff to one person. Maximizing profit is not the highest priority, especiall since it costs exponentially more to ship a bike parted out instead of complete.

selling the parts as a ehole and the frame as a whole would be the next option if noone bites on the $1000 deal.

maybe I should pull the Chromor dticker and play dumb like the last seller of a Ventoux, but I'm not a scammer.

It is a bit strange that s team replica bike would have Cromor tubing and not SLX.....that would have matched up better with the C-Record/Delta Gruppo. I agree that the frame pulls down the bike's potential value. Otherwise with SLX or 753 tubing, it easily could have been a 1200 - 1400 buck bike all day long,..... at least here in the US.
The typical to LeMond bikes, "Spumoni" fxde color scheme also kinda gives the bike a "love it or hate it" factor.....
Try as I might, I never could figure out how LeMond chose the color schemes on his production bikes. I guess it's an attempt just to be different??....

I had the "real mccoy". Steel slx campy record, deltas etc. got it in Reno for 600. An authentic team bike. sold it for 900.00 as I recall. The guy I sold it to, had it on CR for something like 1200 for about one month. Don't know if he sold it or not. It was about 60cm. Yes, that frame of yours is not going to worth more than maybe 200.00 I think. The team Z paint job was not Lemond's idea...it was the colors for the Z children's clothing line of products. In fact, before Lemond was even on that team, the Jersey's were exactly the same. Pink, yellow, blue...I personally love the color combo. I still have my team Z TVT cabon bike. One of my favorite bikes to ride, of course, I only ride it wearing the team Z kit. I also have a bunch of those team Z plastic bags they were giving out in the 1990 tour de france.
