1986 Raleigh 753r
I have an Ikelston 753r Services des Courses that was built for me in 1986.
It's barely been ridden, because somehow the order process failed and it is too big for me. I ordered it when living in Scotland and had to move before it was ready. When I finally saw it, I was in another country and couldn't do anything about the size. It's stamped 56 on the bb and I should have a 53.
I have ridden it a bit, but not much. It has a different saddle, but everything else, including the tires, is from 1986. It is built with Campy C-record, including the cobalto brakes. I had a minor crash and scratched the rear derailleur and rear triangle a bit, but that's all.
It isn't team colors, but I still like the colors that I chose.
Does anyone know what it could be worth and where I could sell it most effectively?
Thanks,
J

If the serial number is SB XXXX then $1000 and you should clean it really well, take lots of good pictures in good light showing details, decals, any and all scrapes and damage (the pictures you posted are not good), list on eBay, and be willing to ship (have a bike shop ready to disassemble and pack it really well, in as small as box as possible, and figure out the shipping cost ahead of time). Make sure your listing includes keywords SBDU, Team Professional, 753, Ilkeston. Start bidding reasonably low, like $300, but use a reserve that won't make you cry, like $800.

At those prices and the prices I see on Ebay, it seems I'd be better off selling it as a frame and parts.
That seems like a strange way to go, but it appears to be the case.

I think $1,000 may be a good bit low. Although that's near the end of SBDU production and the earlier ones are a bit more prized, one in that condition ought to bring $1,500 I'd think. The only problem might be that from what I understand you need an established reputation to get top price on ebay.
