looking for value of a well experienced Viner circa mid- 80's frame only
I'm considering getting back into a tighter geometry 80's Italian bike and have come across a Viner. Frame size is right where I'd like for a go-fast old school rider. Described as no dents, dings or rust but really nasty in cosmetics, scratches, etc..
I like patina and a few scratches normally don't bother me, but with this one I'm on the fence of painting. With that, I could do my own re-finish and spend for graphics, but still has an associated cost + my time.
Any thoughts what a frame in not pretty condition is worth?
Thanks

Is this the frame only or a frame set frame and matching fork? Also some pics and frame details type of tubing dropouts color and size would help with nailing down a value.

With original fork and Campagnolo dropouts and fork ends $125 maximum with name brand tubing. Without fork and no name dropouts and fork ends $50.

As the title states, frame only. Have pics from seller but not very good. Dropouts appear as Campagnolo (sans adj. screws). Seat cluster and head lugs are cutout. BB shell has oval cutouts. Top mount pump pegs. TT cable, DT shifter braze-on. No decal denote tubing. Assuming some sort of Columbus??
Jim- Was thinking the same as your lower number. It's just a rough looker and although I'd like to be the savior and make it a rider again, might not be worth the hassle or insult the seller.

Based on the additional info I would say only $50 maybe $75 if you really want it. Personally without the fork and rough cosmetically I would just pass on this one. if your going to go to the trouble of building a frame up from scratch you really want something with good original paint and a matching fork.

Without the fork...pass...
Sounds like a lot of work...and then sourcing a fork...more work, more $$$
To me, any rebuild/restore starts off much better with frame and fork...

Thanks all for the suggestions. Price has been agreed upon and nice dealing with an understanding seller. Definitely will be a project but in a strange way, feel good about resurrecting it. Hate to see something like this get any worse or ground into a fixed. I'm fairly resourceful for components and will have a clean canvas to build upon including refinish. Its been a long time since I've had anything Italian of that era. Cheer's
