1980 Raleigh mixte
Hi All: Seller has this listed for $175, purchased from a bike shop last year. She has a moving / drop dead date on the sale, so if it hasn't gone by close to then I'd like to make an offer on it.
It is describe by the seller as 'works well', and the shop it was bought from is a reputable servicer of older bikes.
So, based on the pic, what's it worth?

Thanks.
And in addition to appraisals I'd love to any general speculation about the bike or specific things to be on the look out for if I do go to see it.
Would be a keeper for my wife, not for flipping.
I read Raleigh was bought by Huffy ~1984, so does that make 1980 a relatively good model year for the 80s?
Anyone know if there was a lot of variation in the quality of mixtes like other bikes, or are all the mixtes sort of low end?

Looks like a Grand Prix, definitely not scraping the bottom of the barrel. All depends on condition. If the bike had been serviced before she bought it, and it's ready to ride. $125 to $150 range.

I'm no expert on value, but I do own and ride some nice older Raleighs. I have a large mens 1975 English made 10sp "Sprite" in emerald green, 1976 medium ladies Canadian made 10sp "Sprite" also in emerald green(done for my wife). I recently purchased a Canadian made 1980 Raleigh road bike Record? or Reliant? for twenty bucks at a yard sale. The green sprites were $50 each. A 1986 Canadian "Sprite" 6 sp in black was gifted by a friend. Although it is the newest the frame appears identical to the older ones and component wise it is every bit an equal. I have added $60 to $100 for tires tubes brake pads etc. With these simple upgrades, maybe $150?

Thanks everyone. She took $100 for it (though I'm thinking now she probably would have taken less-- oh well). Worksop serial number and the wife likes it, so I chalk that up as a win.
Drop bars went on today, new cables and barcons later in the week, and then ready to roll (hopefully).

Didn't know what to make of this-- were you suggesting I immediately dispose of that crappy looking saddle, was my first thought.
I looked, its an Avocet Touring W-II, and I see it has a following, so you were probably being serious.
Bike is maybe a week from road ready with the new drops, after a couple of weeks of riding if she doesn't like it I'd be happy to let if go. Will be in touch if we get to that point.
