Peugeot Identification, Mid 80s PX-10, Real or?

I picked this up several weeks ago and have been trying to nail down exactly what it is ever since.

The label on the non drive side chain stay is marked "PX10SH56". I am a skeptic, and believe that things happen over time, stickers get added and stickers get removed# Does this label look as though it is legitimate? I've looked through some mid 80s catalogs, and saw PX10SH models in the UK and in the French catalogs, but the color was wrong# The color of my frame is a dark sort of graphite grey# It looks like it should be somewhere in 1985, similar to a PX10L?

Anyway, I've posted some photos hoping that that will help#

Any Peugeot experts want to help me out? I can provide more photos if needed#

No seat post clamp on the frame
No braise-ons for fenders/racks
There is a nipple for a pump on the head tube
Reynolds 531 Fourreaux decal on fork
Reynolds 531 Professionnel decal on the frame
Hand braised decal on the top tube, non drive side
Puymorens decal #crooked , I'm a skeptic# on the top tube, drive side
Simplex dropouts on the frame

Thanks for any help

Looks like the original tag to me

Bike looks a bit like the PX10from the 1984 catalog and the PZ10 from the 1985 catalog, on a quick glance - you could study the catalogs' details to see what you think

Take a look at the 1984 catalog. We may have a winner.

[EDIT: Once again, just a little late to the party. hahaha]

Others w/ more knowledge may chime in, my impression is that Peugeot was kind of loosey-goosey about timing of exact model changes so wouldn't be shocking for a bike tagged 1985 to match a 1984 catalog.

Nice frame!

Looks like a real factory tag to me. Nice PX frame in 56cm size. Enjoy! The Reynolds chrome fork though only shows up on a 1984 spec for the PZ10, chromoly fork is listed in the 1984 catalog for a PX10. Given the non-standard Shimano 600 headset, the fork may have been replaced.

the decal on fork doesnt seem to match the one on the frame, so fork might have gotten replaced at some point.

should be like this:

A coulple of follow up questions regarding condition issues and value.

The frame has some isolated rust where the chain stays meet the bottom bracket, and also where the rear brake caliper mounts, as can be seen in the photos.

And, the non-drive side seat stay has a bit of a bend in it as can also be seen in the photos. For what it is worth there was a Nuvinci hub mounted to the frame, and the rear spacing is now 134.6mm.

Is it the end of the road for this frame? I figured the bend can be corrected, but I was wondering about the rust, it does look as though it is only on the surface.

The bike owes me a little bit of money, and my intention was to sell the frame, is there any value to it considering the condition? (Just the frame, no fork or headset)

Thanks

An oxalic acid bath should take care of that surface rust. No big deal. You can pick up a small tub of oxalic acid labeled as wood bleach at your local hardware store. Mix with water in a big tub like a kiddie pool and submerge the frame for a day or so. Then address the bare metal so it doesn't rust again. Cheap & easy.
