WTB: Brooks Pro Saddle

Greetings-

I am looking for a black or brown Brooks pro appropriate for an early 70s bike.

Thanks in advance!

I have a dark brown 1981 professional but it is a little lopsided.

I'd be curious to see it. I guess I'm looking for one that is in good shape or can be made to look so with some work. So, considering those that don't have major cracking.

Let me guess,....... the cantle portion slightly dips down to the left when looking from behind.
Don't ask how I know. it's a common thing with this saddle but it's not even noticeable when you ride on them..... Sounds like a few bad batches of Pros from the factory got out.
Can they be straightened out?

I forgot to mention that it is a professional select. I don't think it is the cantle, it appears to be just the shape of the leather. I will try to get photos, at least for the sake of the curiosity of it early next week. Oh, and no I don't notice it when I ride it. It got flipped over for a flat repair at some point in it's life and some of the rivets are scuffed. I've never tried to buff it out because it was never destined for a pretty bike. I've ridden it off and on for close to 10 years, but I don't ride it often and I like the new cambium so much I am thinking of getting another to replace it.

I looked at mine many times to figure out what is going on, and I agree that it looks like it's really just the leather saddle cover that's doing the lopsided dip at the back. Maybe that's why I don't feel the tilt to the left I see when I ride it. What bugs me is, there does not seem to be a real fix for it.....unless I maybe just adjust the Brooks rear name plate by moving up the left rivet location on the leather cover??......

Most of the saddles I ride, whether they're factory Brooks or ones I've recovered myself, are lopsided in the same way. I doubt it's the manufactures fault. I think it's the rider's anatomy that's causing the anomaly. BWDIK....

I have a black brooks pro in very nice shape. Large copper rivets, chrome rails, low miles. Not sure I want to sell it but I'd trade it for a black c-17.

Now they come in "Ochre"? (post # 11) Isn't that what most of you here refer to as "honey"?

Really, Rudi? You mean, after riding them?

I've only bought one brand new Brooks, a B-17 about 20 years ago. And it was definitely lopsided right from the factory. Looking straight down on it from above, one skirt was more flared than the other. Like it was stretched tighter one one side than the other.
That saddle caused me nothing but trouble, inner thigh, and I finally had to ditch it.

Yup. The right side gets pressed down more than the left side. The ridge moves to the left.

I don't know the cause; I suspect I habitually stretch out my right leg while coasting. Whatever the cause, it doesn't make the saddle uncomfortable.

I've read somewhere by a saddle manufacturer that a proper fit may include a slight rotate to the left or right. Might not look asymmetric to the bike but could call it an assmetric fit.

Having gone through it all, I would never recommend this approach. If you have to do this you have an asymmetry in your body. Compensating your fit to accommodate it will only exacerbate it in the long run. Treat the cause, not the symptom.

Edit: sorry guys, was away all weekend. Photos of my pro are coming.

My pro: Brooks Pro Select Photos by abier622 | Photobucket

I almost feel like I can't offer this for sale given it's deformities. But if someone really wants it, I'd sell for $50 plus shipping. I can't feel it, but maybe that is because I caused the deformation. When I got it, it was like concrete on a barely used 1981 Carlton. I put a bit of proofide on it and suffered if for short rides around town and eventually it softened up. Thickest brooks leather I have ever seen.

This one is called "honey" when I got it and it was bang on symmetrical, as I recall...

The one I have is like this one but in nicer shape (no scratches). I posted above that I wanted to trade it for a black cambium, and I do, but I could also sell it since I'm not currently using it. $125 shipped? I can email photos of course.

A Brooks Pro in the '70's has smaller rivets that the current ones.
