Marinoni Special - triple rings, cantilever brakes, great condition...

This lovely 60cm (c-c) Marinoni road bicycle is in very good condition. Based on the geometry, fender and rack mounts, triple bottle holders I would suggest it to be a touring bicycle. It features:

Columbus SP frame/fork
Shimano Ultegra components
Seven Speed indexed transmission
Triple Rings
Cantilever Brakes
Lovely Pantographing
Turbo Saddle (one scuff on rear right corner)

The bicycle is with me, in Prince George and so am I. I can easily ship it anywhere. I have shipped a lot of bicycles. You can learn more about me at MY "TEN SPEEDS", a website that I publish.

Email me your phone number, if you wish to discuss a potential purchase. I should add that I will be in Prince George, visiting my daughter, for only a few days. Once headed home, I won't be able to get at the bike until November when I head back to Jamaica.

Price: $650.00 + Shipping

A bit large for me also, but just took it out for a short ride anyway. Nice bike, but a bit premature for me to evaluate ride quality. Will do so, tomorrow, weather permitting...

Could you tell us the top tube measurement, and the head tube measurement?

A 58cm - I'm assuming this is a centre-to-centre seat tube measurement? - is usually a bit small for me, but a Marinoni of this era with cantis, a more relaxed geo, and decent tire clearance is pretty interesting.

I would need the above info to determine whether it might fit - and would likely get in touch to discuss if it looks like it would.

I made a mistake in seat tube measurement. Here are accurate measurements:

Seat Tube (c-c) - 60cm
Top Tube (c-c) - 58cm
Head Tube (c-c) - 130mm; cup to cup - 193mm

My apology for the error in seat tube size.

Stand over height? May be pretty close to fitting me. Are you driving home? You can email me at 70ssilver at gmail.

Stand over height is approx 85cm.

I am driving home but not sure I have enough room in my car. We had to buy a set of snow tires last winter, when we hit Calgary, and I have to bring them home with me. Might be able to work something out, though.

Very nice. If I had room in the budget, it'd be on its way to me now. Someone's going to get a nice bike.

How long will you be in Prince George. On the map, it looks remote. It must be gorgeous there.

My nomadic agenda is defined by Mother Nature, Wander Lust and Mrs. Me. Should be in Prince George for another few days, a week at the most. Trying to reach home, Ontario, by the end of April.

Beautiful here in the snow capped Rockies - beautiful speaks loudly and in so many different ways. From mountain sheep crowding the road, to mommy moose and mini moose to - well, you get the idea. Allow me to say this...

Mother Nature is awesome, but can be cold, at times. Still chilly up here in the peaks - when you stop to consider I was riding in Jamaica just a few days ago. By the way, guess what I am riding, here in Prince George..?

That is tempting but just a touch on the small side. I am surprised Mike hasn't snapped it up already. Perhaps if nobody jumps I will do so in November. I am only a days drive north. Though shipping via greyhound would still be better (around $50 I think). What is the model of hubs, rims and the cantilevers?

Took the big bike out for another cool, speaking in both the literal and figurative sense, ride today. Spent a few minutes, seeking direction, but this guy was unwilling to point the way...

Based on the component numbers, I am guessing the bike to be of 1990 vintage. Does that seem about right, base on what you see?

It does. Graphics, etc. seem consistent with that.

The serial number on the bottom of the BB should provide confirmation of year of manufacture (first two digits represent last two of year of manufacture, IIRC, though I might have that mixed up in my head).

I really want this bike, but am not in a good position to foot the bill at the moment.

Every time I check out this thread (daily), I'm very much tempted to reconsider my position.

My Special, a very racy one in purple/black/white fade (also an SP bike), is a 1990.

The first two digits are 30 and the last two are 86.

I ran into the can't afford it syndrome, almost a year ago, when a lovely, full Campagnolo Waterford, in my size, complete with fancy pedals and shoes that fit. Perfect! Went home, talked to Mrs. Me, but only because I had no cash at the moment. For the first time in my life, I used Visa to buy a bike...

And am I ever glad I did!
