I ran into the can't afford it syndrome, almost a year ago, when a lovely, full Campagnolo Waterford, in my size, complete with fancy pedals and shoes that fit. Perfect! Went home, talked to Mrs. Me, but only because I had no cash at the moment. For the first time in my life, I used Visa to buy a bike...
And am I ever glad I did!
I think that serial might make it a 1993? I was obviously incorrect about it being the first two digits that give it away (my offhand recollection), but looking at some old threads to refresh my memory, there seems to be a general feeling that the first digit (at least around this period) should represent the last digit of the year of manufacture.

EDIT: It is sometimes the case that the under-BB cable routing routes the FD cable over the first digit of the serial, obscuring it. This was the case with mine!

Love the Waterford, and I feel like this one may be a bike I regret passing on. In my case, the reality of having to (somehow) pay university tuition at the beginning of next month was probably the biggest obstacle to my finding a way to arrange for this one to come my way through use of a credit card (or by whatever means necessary).

I'm drooling, but I'm pretty sure I can't swing it at the moment. My bike fund for the next year or so went into the Cyclops.

If it was a 58 I'd be all over it.

Thanks for the photos randy, Early 1990s seems correct for the Deore DX parts. 1993 it could be. I was wanting to know if the canti's were XT or DX, which you could tell by looking at the model number on the back of the arms, BR-M734 would be the XT model but I am guessing DX based on everything else. It's nice to be sure, A full XT build would probably have me pulling the trigger and as much as I like this, I don't have the need for it in my stable and it wouldn't get a ton of miles, though it would be a nice light replacement for Soma Saga which I keep down south for visits to "the city" (Vancouver).

A fellow forum member has made the choice to purchase so the bicycle is SOLD. Sorry for anyone who missed out, but glad I found a good home for this nice old touring bicycle.

Are we showing our memberships now? I suspect the buyer may already be in the club.

Pleased for the lucky buyer. Pleased to be with one less temptation here in the 'For Sale' section of C&V.

The DX cantilevers have silver cylinder brake posts. The XT have black rounded ones.
