Lugged mountain fork wanted!
I am looking for a 26 inch rigid steel lugged fork. Preferably the old investment crown style, either biplane or semi biplane. Tange is fine! An old Schwinn Sierra or high Sierra fork would be perfect! I am building a Klunker from a Worksman frame, and the original fork is a HUGE unicrown style thing with smashed tubing for dropouts, and it's hideous. I have a 26 inch Landing Gear fork on it for now, but it's equally as ugly IMHO. Strong though, so it's on there for the time being. I may remove the canti mounts, so nothing too valuable/collectible.
Steerer tube should be no shorter than 6 3/4" inches, and no longer than 7 1/2". I can measure how deep the threads need to go should any suitable forks pop up. Thanks!
I know, not that good of a picture for this, but you get the idea...

I've got a Schwinn high Sierra frame in Black chrome with a wicked stuck seatpost that I give up on, and at this point I'd be willing to pull the fork. PM me if interested. Not sure if the Black Chrome finish wrecks your plans? Oh, and it took roller cam brakes, not cantilevers. Not sure if that matters either.

I've got a pile of used forks, nothing biplaner right now. Let me know if you change directions a bit and I will dig through the stash.

Ditto above. I have a Tange unicrown canti fork, but nothing lugged. Priced to move.

The black chrome models all have the lugged unicrown correct? Put that down as a maybe, but I would hate to ruin a roller cam fork.,,,,BD

yes, it's a lugged unicrown. I can grab a picture after work. I wouldn't worry about ruining it. Ive tried everything possible to unstick the seatpost, and it's just been sitting there for a while since I gave up on it.

@wrk101 I should probably talk to you about looking in that pile and finding me a 700c fork with canti studs & long steer tube (260mm?). 1 1/8" threadless is preferable, but I have an adapter set that will let me go 1" quill as well. Unicrown is fine. You have anything with that long a steer tube?

Believe it or not I found one. It was on my Trek 830. It doesn't fit me very well, plus it's been apart for nearly two years and the decals are shot. I measured the head tube length and it was a 1/4" longer. I added a few more washers until I can find a spacer at the LBS, and it fit perfectly. Pics in a little while, I need to mow as the grass is getting kind of tall now. Hopefully I can finish it by vacation next month. I can get some shots of it by the Guadalupe river if that happens. Nice scenery!,,,,BD
