Edit: Oh hey I almost forgot that I have a US address at ComGateway/ shipping warehouse that you can send to. Will you be able to ship there? It's in Portland, Oregon. Do you have an email that I get in touch to?

@Kactus - Could you post a few photos or pm me them of the seat stays and the seat tube stickers if it's not too much trouble. I'm trying to date/get more info about another Sekai "professional" (https://www.bikeforums.net/classic-vi...i-line-up.html) and yours is the only one I can compare it to. Hard to find good photos of Sekai 4000/5000 online. Thanks!

Thanks for the extra photos! I really love the lug work and wrap around seat stays. Like I said earlier, if it were in my size I would've bought it already from you. My n+1 has progressed a bit too much and can only make room for riders that fit me.

I absolutely love this bike. Just wish I had the extra cash at the moment. Out-of-state weddings 2 out of the next 3 weekends destroy that idea though.

I've been trying to grow a few more inches over the last month to make myself fit the bike. Unfortunately, only by waist has grown in size.

I have been thinking about picking up a commuter. I currently ride a 56cm Trek 2.1, would this fit well?
Any idea what shipping would cost to Corvallis Oregon? OR any interest in meeting half way?

The standover height is 32.5" and I would think pretty close in size to a 56mm Trek 2.1; the Sekai is 57cm center to top or about 56cm center to center. I would be willing to meet at Castle Rock, WA which is close to half way. This would save you around $75-$100 in shipping costs.

Assume I know almost nothing about bikes, particularly classic ones. In fact, most of the jargon in the post is lost on me.
I currently have a 2010 Trek 2.1 that is more than enough road bike for me.
However, I am looking to replace a 15 year old Trek mountain bike as a commuter. My complaints are that it is has a big heavy frame, large mountain bike tires, a bit of rust, and tons of squeaks. Rather than putting close to $200 in to it for tires and a tuneup, I am looking for a new commuter.
My plan is to go to my local shops today and see what they have in the $400 range. The Trek 7.0 FX comes to mind, but I'll let everyone give me their sales pitch.
SO, how would this fit the bill? Ready to ride? Superior to the hybrids I am looking for? It looks fancy, but that isn't what I am necessarily looking for. I would toss some fenders in it. And, primarily I want something that is fun to ride to work.
Give me your sales pitch.

The Sekai will be lighter and faster than most (all?) hybrids you will find for $400 and will ride more like your Trek 2.1 due to the drop bars, narrower tires and sportier geometry. The Sekai 4000 was second to the top of the line for Sekai. The Sekai has downtime mounted shifters which will be a little different for you, and the riding position will be a little more relaxed than your current Trek. The Sekai 4000 is very similar to a Raleigh International; designed as a versatile 'club racer' type bike that could be raced on week ends and ridden to work during the week or used as a light touring bike.
The Sekai is ready to ride. It has newer tires, brake pads, cables, sealed bottom bracket and has been tuned up. The only thing you would need to do is adjust the seat and handlebars to suit you.

Hello,
I had that same bike new.
I broke the frame at the bottom bracket and it was replaced under warranty with a black one, I still have that but the fork is bent.
Unfortunately yours is too small, even more sad for me is I live in Tacoma too!
Just for kicks how long is the steering tube? I need 230mm
Bill
