Bi-planer Vintage MTB fork and 1984 Univega Alpina Uno 23 inch frame

Fork and Frame SOLD, thanks!

I picked up a 1984 Univega Alpina Uno frameset. Unfortunately, the threads on the steer tube are worn, especially near the top. The good news is this fork came off a big frame, 23 inch seat tube. So you should be able to shorten the steer tube, rethread it, and use it on your project. I figure the first 7 1/2 to 8 inches of steer tube, the threads are still pretty good. Beyond that, the wear gets worse. The fork is not cross threaded, the threads are just worn. Lock nut does not tighten adequately.

Or pick up the entire frame set. Use lock tight or the thread lock of your choice, or maybe even pipe dope or similar?? Or use a 1 inch threadless stem??

Or if you just want the frame triangle without the fork, let me know.

Akisu, cromoly, 1984.

Fork by itself, $25 plus reasonable shipping.

Fork plus frame, $45 plus reasonable shipping.

This is a really cool frame/fork wrk, and it would make an awesome drop bar conversion. If I weren't knee deep in bikes I'd be doing something fun with this. It's even got rack eyelets.

Glad it sold before I saw it !

Just for future reference, it is quite easy to restore bad fork threads by brazing some brass onto the bad threads then re-tapping them. I've had this done and it works great.

Good suggestion. The steer tube looks good, the threads are just too worn.

Very cool Alpina frameset. Would like to see it finished. Do you recall the headset size?

So no worries but 9 yr old zombie thread here and OP may or may not respond.

And you need to quote the OP or they may not see your response.
