Criterium 1953 French racing bike 531 Reynolds 60 cm

Selling my early 1950`s CRITERIUM , French 531 Reynolds bike.

I purchased this bike from an 83 year old man who said he rode this bike for the last 50 years. It came to me with a chrome rear wheel and a cheap cotter crankset and early 70`s Suntour shifting. The BB was an original hollow Stronglight. The headset is Stronglight and the brakes and levers, first generation MAFAC , according to Velobase , and were original to the bike.

I added a period correct Simplex suicide front shift lever, a NOS Stronglight Competition crankset and used but expensive 50, 46 Simplex rings. I replaced the wheels with a set of Ambrosia rims laced to Millard Competition hubs. I added the Ideale Saddle as well. The GB Kromo stem is awesome looking.

The paint is original , the logo is hand painted. BB shell is GB. Double pulley wheel cable guide. One shift lever boss and I do have the adapter for that boss for a dual control shift lever. Rear derailleur is Campagnolo Gran Sport. Cool looking bike that weighs 24.4 pounds on my digital bathroom scale.

$550 OBO, Shipped in the USA, Paypal friends and family or you pay the fees.

I put a lot of money into this bike. Those old parts are worth some money.

Bikes: Was Fuji and got my grails (Pro, Pro SR, Design Series, & Ti). Now I hunt 50's and older road bikes.

SOLD, or at least it will be if not already. I also ride the fox river trail, so I'll even offer visitation rights and first right of refusal if I let it go.
