Does anybody have a Deerhead RD?

The latest project I picked up has a need for one of these to return to stock. If you have one that you can part with, please let me know. Hopefully with a strong spring, as it has to handle a 34T big cog in back. A little yellowed and/or light scratching okay. No pavement scars though, that would be the dealbreaker. Thanks for any and all responses.,,,,BD

Going on this little diamond in the rough I picked up last night...

Oh yes, almost forgot. Also looking for one pair of these Shimano brakes. Weird I know, but they HAVE to have springs that fit holes on the outside of the stud, rather than the inside which is the standard.,,,,BD

Those are the AT-50 brakes?

So the MC-70 or M732 brakes won't work?

I have a busted one. Not sure what's wrong with it. Derailleur disassembly and repair are beyond my skill set. Cages aren't bent, and it shifts great, but the spring flips the lower arm all the way around when the chain isn't holding it in place. Maybe missing a piece? Cost of shipping gets it.

GB... They are MC70, but the springs are oriented to the outside of the bosses. The little hump that sticks out for brake side of the spring is in the same place, but the spring is possibly another 1/4 turn longer, [rbwhatever would index to the outside of the post.

Icepick... I don't know if the spring stop is replaceable on these derailleurs, as I don't have one to look at. It sounds like the stop that holds the cage from spinning around is either broken or missing?,,,,BD

Pretty sure I saw a pair of those brakes at my local co-op in the parts bin... I will check next week when I'm there.

That definitely sounds like the problem. You're welcome to it if you like.

I have seen 3 deerhead RDs with this issue. One is sitting in a parts drawer in my garage right now instead of on a bike since I hadn't bothered yet to look at whats wrong.
Might have been a common issue with that RD?

I think they use a screw and a collar kind of like the rear of the front derailleur as a pin to hold it from rotating. From vibration or whatever they tend to fall out I imagine.,,,,BD

Icepick, How is yours condition wise, other than that. I might have one of these pin things from an arabesque, that has a weak spring anyway. I will check when I get home.,,,,BD

I'd call the condition fair to good, but not great. Needs new pulley wheels and some logo rug, but the cages are straight and spring tension is good.
