I thought feelers were verboten on this thread--that items listed here are supposed to be for sale for a stated price. Or do I misunderstand that policy?

Did not know about that. If so, mod, please remove.

Is there another place where this should have been posted or is this forbidden entirely?

I think this clears the policy. He has a stated price. Sure, he might accept reasonable offers below it, but that's any thread.

Changed the original posting to reflect the wishes of all the forum police. Couldn't seem to get the listed thread title to change, however. Have emailed for user assistance from the real forum police.

$500 for a complete EL-OS bike? Now that would be the deal of the century.

I'm pretty sure @m_sasso was saying its $500 too high, not worth $500. He's putting the value at $1,500.

i think that's still a bit rich. I'd lean more toward $1,200 but I don't really deal in $1K+ vintage bikes.

Depending on the city, my humble opinion is that it's worth somewhere between $1,300 and $1,700

Oh, yeah, that I would agree with. Mid-low $1000's.

You can tell there was a lot of care put into this bike. Everything was very tastefully done. Gorgeous.

YES! The current set-up makes the bike look pudgy. (A hard thing to do with a De Rosa)

no one person knows the value. Gomango probably has his thumb on current typical selling prices; however, someone may have been looking for exactly this bike and be willing to pay $2000 for it. Personally, it would have to be record for me to pay that price but then I am not looking for this frame set particularly. I paid way to much for a repainted 62cm 1981 Marinoni Pista Special in about 2006/7 at the height of the fixie craze. It was built with all the hip components of the day, NJS nitto, dura-ace, velocity deep V's. I sold everything and built it with period correct record and took it back to the boards where it belonged. I paid way to much for that bike and I knew it. Someone might be happy to drop $2000 on this.

For the well informed buyer, his current pics are fine.

Primato seekers can see if this is the bike for them.

Leave the bike the way it is.

I'll give it a shot gmg.

It's hard to judge this one...I don't think originality counts for that much in this case. I'd say 1500-1700 would be pretty easy on ebay. With us cheapos? Probably not. Mine was for sale in Austin on CL at 1200 and the guy had a FLOOD of responses...so some of the estimates above are very off IMO. Mine has a few more scratches, 8sp record and some chrome, so I don't know how to compare value, but likely similar. I prefer the blue, but red is THE De Rosa color.

I wouldn't be surprised if there is a buyer at $2000, but it may take time to find him. $2000 is closer then some of the low ballers above. This is a Primato...not SLX. It's much more unusual and a lot more desireable. It's in the class with MXL/MAX as the most distinctive steel of the 90s.

I've turned down offers of near 2k.
