Looking for a tiny mixte!
Hi all, my cousin crashed and totaled her bike, so I'm looking for a mixte frame (or complete) that has an effective horizontal top tube length of around 50cm (max 52). Bright colors encouraged!
Thanks!
Thanks!

I have a white Pug project in the garage. The frame is in great shape, Chrome wheels are in great shape. Everything looks good but it has the plastic simplex shifting that sucks. I was planning to over haul it with some Suntour I have in the bin. Top tube is 53 cm. Seat tube is 20 cm. All original but the seat. $50 and it is your project.
Edit: 20 inch seat tube, or 51 cm.

Most mixtes are 19" frames. There should be no shortage of them in Chicago.

The seat is raised because it was in my stand. Here she is.

No problem. I will overhaul it and flip it then.

So she likes drop bars. She's 5'0, and the last bike she rode had a 55cm top tube length (effective) and she was quite stretched out. So I'm hoping to find a better fit. If all else fails, then I guess we may have to go the Soma Buena Vista route and she'll be penny-pinching for a while.

My wife likes drop bars too. She NEVER takes her hands off of the top of the bars and insists on turkey levers, but she absolutely has to have drop bars.

Just chiming in as a Chicagoan and a mixte fan...those are some nice bikes cited above. The Bob Jackson especially, whoo boy! That is a rare one, and might be one of two BJ mixtes in the area, the other belonging to my wife! I built it up from a frame I got from MiamiJim here on the forum. Ours is quite a bit rougher in condition, but actually if you look at the metal on the CL one, the brazing, etc is not exactly pristine; they were not known for super neat work.
As a practical everyday rider, the Miyatas would do great, too bad both are so far away. The first vintage bike I bought was a 1987 Miyata 110 mixte, a slight step up from that one, which was in Kalamazoo, being sold by the original owner for $75. That was in 1999, for my daughter to take to college, and she still has it.
It's possible that sometime this summer I will have an entry level Shogun mixte on hand. I bought it and cleaned it up years ago, then gave it to my FIL's lady friend, but she is up in years and not riding it, so I may retrieve it in the next couple of months. LMK if you'd be interested in it. You can PM me, and I'll eventually get that though I don't check in here that often.

Look for a Georgena Terry, they're made for small women with a smaller front wheel and short TT. I don't recall seeing any mixtes but with this design it's not necessary. I have seen some Terry frames on Ebay for very reasonable prices.
