1986 Andre Bertin C80-SSC frame/fork/headset/BB 58cm
I'm thinning the fleet, so up for sale is what @verktyg has identified as a 1986 Bertin C80-SSC frame made with Columbus SL tubing. This was Bertin's top of the line steel frame at the time. Seat tube measures 58cm center to top, and top tube measures 56 cm c-c. Aero rear brake cable routing. Rear spacing is 126mm. French-threaded headset and BB, and fork steerer requires a 22.0mm diameter stem. Takes a 26.6 mm seatpost. Weight including headset and BB is just a shade under 6.5 lbs on my hanging scale, so quite lightweight.
Paint has a fair share of scrapes and chips though no dents. The original blue is quite striking. I really like the way this bike rides, but I exceeded the capacity of my basement quite a few bikes ago!
Price is $150 plus shipping from zip 02446 via bikeflights.com in the CONUS--that price includes a Campagnolo French-threaded headset and V-O French threaded BB (which really make the price of the frame less than $100--what a deal!).
A few pics; let me know if you want any more specific photos or details:

Sweet. I grew up a block away from a store that sold Bertins; I badly wanted one but as a kid couldn't even begin to think about affording one. This is a very good deal with headset and bottom bracket.

No one cares
My dog might die. Can I have that?

Neal, I assume it's racing geometry and has tight clearances for tires, i.e. it's a go-fast bike?

@nlerner Bertin made 2 similar top of the line performance models in the early 80's. The C80-SSC like yours was made of Columbus SL tubing and the C79-SSC used Reynolds - originally 531SL - Special Light Weight (Extra Legere in French) which Reynolds renamed 531 Competition or 531c around 1982. The Reynolds frames were at least a 1/2 Lb. lighter but 1 step down in price position. Columbus tubing brought a premium price.
Many of those models were sold as bare frames by Cycles Andre Bertin on the continent and Ron Kitching in the UK. As complete bikes they were available with French Spidel components or Shimano components (Bertin was the Shimano importer for France). They could probably be ordered all Campy too.
I have one of each model that I bought as bare frames. I haven't gotten around to building up the 1986 C80-SSC yet but I built the 1982 C79-SSC all Shimano.
The C80-SSC is featured in the Bertin section of the Classic Rendezvous website. I bought the frame from the original owner.
Bertin, Jules M's
The workmanship is very good on these frames, especially for production models... but Bertin had a reputation for that.
@noglider to answer your question, yes these are full on racing frames with short wheelbases and tight clearances. The head and set tube angles are 73° if I remember correctly. The ride is very smooth and the handling is responsive but not twitchy. These are bikes you can ride all day especially in a 58cm size frame.
If this frame was a 55cm or 56cm and it would be long gone by now. Cheap at twice the price!
