1972 PX 10 Blue 54 cm
Sold.
I am offering up this beautiful PX 10 here before I put it on CL. No dents or dings, but has some paint chips and scratches consistent with a bike this age. Original paint and decals, the chrome is in great shape. 54 cm seat tube C to C, 56 cm top tube C to C.
I purchased this bike as a donor for my PX 10 project. It came to me with Campagnolo derailleurs and a Simplex seat post that I wanted. It was drilled for recessed brakes and came to me with Shimano 105 dual pivot calipers. I had a set of Mafac Racers that I put on but I did not have an extra set of levers. The Aero Shimano levers work better with these calipers anyway, way better stopping than I have ever had with Mafac levers and no noises.
Original BB, cranks, pedals, stem, bars and calipers. The hubs and rims are not marked. They are 700 C with Continental tires marked 28 - 32, clinchers . You need to let the air out of the rear to remove the wheel. The freewheel is a Cyclo Competition 14 to 21 in very good condition. I do have a set of wheels with the correct hubs and the correct Atom freewheel 14 to 21 but they are laced to 27 inch Weinmann rims. You can pick your wheels. The seat post is an SR 2 bolt in nice shape. The seat is an old Freccia D'oro French racing saddle. The cranks spin smooth, headset spins smooth, wheels are true , no hops and the hubs spin smooth. I have not opened them up.
This is a beautiful bike in need of a good home, very close to original, all you would need is a Simplex seat post, a Brooks Pro and some Mafac Levers. I would do a full restore if it was my size.
$250 plus shipping in the USA or local pickup.

That's funny. Thanks for calling my bluff! But the height on the stem will be an issue for me unless I go with a 22.2 nitto technomic (which I'll probably have to cut down).
But yeah the top tube is 56 . . . . Thinking, thinking. What I always needed, a french threaded rear hub and that weird simplex drop out . . . .
To the OP: great job on the pics.

Seems there is not a lot of interest in this bike on CL either? What gives? How cheap do I need to go? Price drop to $250 plus shipping with bike flights.

What do I need to change? Tires to big? Give me some feedback?

I dunno, Steve, people are pretty cheap I guess. I think tanwall tires might look better if you have any lying around.

Price seems damn good, not sure why it's not selling. Not really my thing, but I dig the blue, and you don't see them as often. I'm surprised it lasted a night to be honest.

I don`t have any tan walls that look good. I have some all black Soma tires that are a bit smaller, front 700 x 23 rear 700 x 26?

It is worth so much more parted out. I just don`t have the heart to do it.

Don't do it, someone has to want that. Lovely bike and a good deal.

I don't think tire size is a factor, really. If you live near any college towns, maybe post it on their Craigslist too.

This is a lovely bike at a very square price. I'm surprised no one has snapped it up.

Is this bike still available? Is this bike the more relaxed geometry or the more aggressive one?
Thank you,
Thank you,

I have someone looking at it tomorrow. I am no expert on Peugeots. I have no iDea about two versions of px 10 of this era and what one this would be other than one had the more fancy lugs. Maybe someone else can chime in?
