"Thick cups" means you'll need a Nuovo Record spindle. Is your crank pre- or post-CPSC? Post-CPSC arms need additional offset from the spindle.

Yes you are correct, the gran sport spindles were made for thin cups and won't work for my needs. My crank is post CPSC, hence the need for a 114-116 spindle. I have pre-CPSC spindles which are 112mm in length and am not getting enough clearance.

I dug through my spindle collection, but the only 70mm, post-CPSC spindle I have has badly pitted races.

Thanks John. I found I had a complete Gran Sport BB with 115mm spindle. Works well.
