WTB cheapish fixed rear wheel/wheelset

As the title says I'm looking for a 700c, 120mm fixed rear wheel or wheelset.

I've got an old Raleigh I'd like to try building up as a club racer style road fixed gear. It's a bit of a budget build so I don't need anything high-end. Silver preferred, of course.

Thanks!

Where do you live? That's a big part of keeping it cheap.

Detroit, but pickings have been slim locally. I'm happy to cover shipping for something functional and reasonably priced; probably not springing for phil hubs though .

For new, at least, Velomine's prices are fairly remarkable: https://www.velomine.com/index.php?m...oducts_id=6191

Avoid 'paired spoking' ....this is an attempt at cosmetic 'window-dressing'

Avoid buying from a company that does NOT understand the basic / essential difference between a freewheel and a cassette = VELOMINE = "Cassette Body Type" ( when used with a photo of a wheel with a hub that is very obviously NOT a cassette hub =

I have some wheels that I got from someone who was going to single speed a vintage Trek. I’ll see what they look like if you are interested.

+1, recently got a set of fixed wheels from them and hope to have the bike complete shortly and can report on the results -- these are the wheels I got: WHEELS but I see sold out at the moment; but it looks like they have a lot of other track/fixed wheels to choose from. Might be worthwhile to contact them (I conferred with Ben there during my transaction) Good luck with the project!

Thanks all!

jdawginsc, I just sent you a PM.

TPL, I don't have a hub but I'll follow up if I find one.

All, thanks for pointing me to velomine. I don't love the looks of that rear wheel but they have some nice-looking wheelsets for under $200. That'll be plan b.

Here are some images for options that I pulled out (can't send via PM).

Unfortunately my memory was faulty about the rims and hubs of the flip flop.

The last two pictures are of the wheels I THOUGHT were the ones, but I guess they could use a freewheel single or fixie.

you don't know what you are talking about. Velomine is well regarded and has a long history. if you look at https://www.velomine.com/index.php?m...oducts_id=6191 you see it is very clearly a fixed/single speed wheel . going on about cassette body = threaded track and freewheel silly at best and shows you really don't understand that the hub has 2 sides, on threaded for a fixed gear and one side for single speed freewheel.

What @squirtdad said...and maybe stop yelling.
I've give you a point because 'cassette type body' was a silly description but you knew better. So does everyone.

'cassette type body' when used in relation to that specific wheel shows a very real lack of knowledge, care and understanding

bicycles do not have doohickeys, thingamabobs or whatchamacallits

Apparently VELOMINE does NOT 'know better'

FWIW I have had good success with a couple of wheelsets from bikeisland.com though I'm sure there are plenty of haters.

FWIW several parts distributors use the “cassette body type” descriptor to funnel search results. Seems more like a simple way to organize stock (since it’s semantically correct for most wheels they sell) than an indication of lack of knowledge or care.
