Wait, what is Columbus SPX?
At any rate, if i hadn't just dumped a lot of money, I'd be at least kinda-sorta interested in this frame. Looks very nice!

Absolutely beautiful frameset and in my size. The only problem for me is that I am a convert to ultra-thin tubes, and the SPX is way too thick for the type of frame flex characteristics I have come to appreciate. Looking at that Columbus tubing chart, my new Jeff Lyon custom was made with the equivalent of Columbus EL. Otherwise, I'd be all over this frame!

Not really that simple.
It is one of Columbus' Cyclex line of steel alloys which is the same as SL/SLX. SP/SPX is 0.1mm thicker in the main tubes and even more substantial in the stays and blades compared to their SL/SLX counterparts. The X denotes ridges to increase stiffness.
So yeah generally this tube set is used for larger frames to mitigate the increased flexibility of longer tubes, but it may also be used for heavy or powerful riders. E.g. a builder may use SP top and down tubes on a track frame.

Gorgeous frame! I remember the one that gomango owned (then sold to whatwolf iirc). The other Casati, also labelled a Gold Line S, had a similar paint scheme, but it also had a cool RD cable routing through the chain stay. Though I'd trade that cable routing for the beautiful chrome lugs on this Casati, which was lacking on gomango's old one. Lots of really nice touches on this frame, and in beautiful condition. Alas, too big for me. Good luck with the sale!

I would say over 6' for this frame. however, if the dimensions are accurate I would say it is suited to someone who is long in torso and a bit shorter in legs than the average. I am almost 6'4" and I would prefer to ride this bike with a 100 to 110mm stem. My cycling inseam is 37", that is a book square to the wall applying pressure similar to sitting on a saddle. I normally wear a 32" jeans or pants and I wear my pants normally with a belt around my waste. Sometimes I fool myself and buy a 34" but always feel there is too much excess material in the way. Go figure. My saddle height with 180mm cranks is around 835mm C-T. This frame would fit me like a glove, but only because I like lots of saddle to bar drop. If I were to use a traditional standard size campagnolo seatpost I'd be running it at the height limit.

Thank you for the replies to my poorly asked question (and to the wrong person). I might just be big enough for this frame, but it's too close to call without having it built up and trying it. Nice frame though, good luck with the sale!

Valentines Day Special
For a limited time only I'll include this bright pink 55 cm Silca pump (compresses to about 50cm) along with the frame.
And, here's a new picture of a frame detail:
For those that are interested, the frame, fork and headset weigh about 3.27 kg or 7lbs 3 oz.
Thanks
Brad

This is an amazing frameset. I could never ride this bike, it's too beautiful. But it would sure look nice between my legs with mid 90's Campy Record Ergos on there...
I can't seem to close this page, I just kept coming back to it and looking at it wondering why I can't close it. Then I went downstairs and looked at the bikes in my "winter shop" and saw my red RB1, red Serotta, red Specialized Sirrus, my wife's red Allez SE... and I came back to this page and realized that I'm unconsciously lying when I tell people my favorite color is green.
Oh, and your photos are stunning - nice camera work!

Hey @mountaindave. I know how hard it is to resist the power of the red. My wife and I have a nice art collection that we've accumulated over 25 years and it is tied together by the colour red. I see that red even dominates your avitar. And thanks for the photo compliment.
Calgary's not that far from where you are. I could meet you half way.

Trust me, I've already contemplated fabricating a reason to go to Calgary. My wife really wants to bring the family up for a Flames game. However, I've already played the "hey, why is the bike rack back on the car in the middle of winter" trick once this season and that bike was "the last bike" after the last "last bike."

Please do many of us a favor and pull this ad. I keep coming back and drooling at the beautiful frame. About my size too.
